Santo Domingo.- President Danilo Medina travels to China in a historic official visit that formalizes diplomatic relations with that Asian country, established May 1.
Medina, invited by his counterpart Xi Jinping, aims to promote national exports to that country and reach cooperation and financing agreements in several areas, for which he will hold meetings with representatives of the public and private sectors.
The Presidency said Medina will depart at 9am from San Isidro Air Base.
It said the visit aims to identify opportunities for growth and cooperation “under the win-win principle” and stressed his country’s participation in the First China International Import Exhibition in Shanghai from November 5 to 10.
The Dominican delegation is expected to promote exports to the Chinese market as well as attract investment to the country.
The Presidency adds that both countries are expected to reach cooperation agreements in trade, infrastructure development and logistics projects. “Investment growth is forecast as the country has great strategic and geographical advantages for Chinese merchants.”
